I think nearly everyone involved in the XBLA version would take issue with that implication. They can be both, and that's a proven fact in several cases. Mark Levin, the lead programmer, probably has more posts on the Story forum than Hamish. You don't have to like the art, sure, but just because they charged for it doesn't mean they were motivated by profit instead of love. : actual Marathon fans created SMG sprites to go with. Now you're just making things up. The SMG sprites and M1 floating HUD were created by the exact same artists who worked on the XBLA version. The producer of the XBLA version was the Marathon fan who cajoled Bungie to allow the plugin to be available for free, and he got the original artists together to make the extra art we needed.
