I've only just started playing Minecraft myself and haven't used any mods yet, so I'm probably missing something -- but couldn't you have just built a pillar and platform over the spout and then placed water to create a waterfall to put out the fire? Or does flowing water have some interaction with oil like it does with lava?

Anyway, I'm really enjoying the series... it's what inspired me to start playing MC. I knew the addiction level would be high, but geez, I had no idea. I've actually abandoned (temporarily) my Marathon playing and mapmaking. The ability to build things in Minecraft that I can't build in Marathon is a big part of that, but I think once the initial fascination wears off I'll be able to allocate some time to both.

You said in a recent episode that you wouldn't be building the Marathon to scale. Why the hell not?
First, I'm wondering if Deimos will already exist with Galacticraft (which it should if Mars exists). If it does, then it's simply a matter of mining out the areas you need to recreate the bits of the Marathon you want to show off. With any luck the lava will already be in place for those levels Perseus hates so much! If Deimos does not already exist, I suppose it probably is too much - Wikipedia puts Deimos' volume at almost exactly 1000 cubic kilometers. That would be, what, about 1 trillion blocks of cobblestone? But hey, I'm sure you guys could do it with a little help from your friends. ;) That would certainly be an epic build!
