Nah, we tried that with some of the underground oil fires we had. The exposed planes of oil that are burning stop burning when water contacts them, but the adjacent blocks are still on fire, so when you remove the water, it just goes back to burning. Either pumping the oil or placing dirt or other blocks to replace it seems to work better.

Glad you're enjoying it! It surprised me, too. I picked it up one day on the Xbox 360 because I was bored and ended up getting hooked.

Well right now I still intend to try and stay in survival mode as long as possible, and I've no idea exactly how many blocks we'd need to build it to scale.

The other reason is that if we keep it under 2000 blocks total, which is really not that big, we can make it in game as a flyable object. I think we'll probably build as big a flyable object as we can an appropriate distance from the surface so it looks large, and then fly it away to end the series.

Mars does exist but I don't think Deimos does as anything other than a blur on a skybox.

If it does, then it's simply a matter of mining

For interiors I think we'd probably start with a blank world and start doing things in creative mode-- or maybe even move to a separate game like StarMade, which is similar to Minecraft but made for building spaceships.
