Imagine that the theory about our energy shielding reducing the damage of lava from instant incineration to gradual melting is correct. Now imagine that shielding finally deactivates (in other words, depleted). Nothing to stop us from being melted instantly. And even if it's just ankle-high (or sole-high, as is the case with all the real M1 lava), the bottom parts melt, and the top parts fall in. No time to use your vocal chords, I'm afraid.
