Hello Story Forum. I'm a young learning scholar of Bungie lore.
In recent days as I've been replaying Marathon 2 my mind has become more and more enthralled with Marathon Infinity's story. I've only stumbled through the game once and am planning on tackling it again once I finish M2.
Going over Infinity's timeline I believe I have my head wrapped around all of it except for one idea, the starting point of the time-loop. Before the game even begins you're introduced to a new timeline in the manual.
I've been looking through MBO/Story and searching the forum to no avail. This is one of the big things that can give you a headache in regards to temporal mechanics, "When did the loop start and how did the original timeline start it?"
I suppose this goes in hand with the title, no? Reaching into the past to find the origin point only to find an infinity of possibilities played out beforehand.
It can overwhelm one so much that they begin to ask the same questions posed by Greg Kirkpatrick. Is Infinity nothing more than another expression of, "What is real?" Is it a dream? Or does it have a tangible beginning and end? I'd prefer to think Infinity does have an alpha and omega, rather than a void of open-endedness. I just need to find them.
