: All good advice, but this is not 100% accurate. There's a set of flags
: associated with each monster and projectile that splits this pillar into
: low, middle, and high "zones" and lets projectiles pass through
: zones that are not occupied by the monster. This is how Greater Nightmares
: can shoot through Venomous Skitters and vice versa.
You're right. I knew that; why did I forget?
Maybe I was thinking only of the immediate problem, and he won't run into anything where it matters for many levels yet. Only the Skitters and Venomous Skitters shoot at ground level; everything else that shoots shoots at middle level. Only the Skitters, Venomous Skitters, and Sentinels are too short to be hit by anything at middle level. Nothing shoots at high level, so the fact that the boss monsters are really tall never comes into play.
Still, it was a serious omission on my part. Thanks for correcting me.
Your own bullets are always at the right level, travel instantly, and don't rely on cylinders of any sort to determine whether they hit. If they're not omnidirectional (green crystal, for example) they depend only on what part of the monster is visible, and on distance.
