In Response To: Re: Volunteers Expanded: By Committee (Godot) : Just as well I didn't start that list. ;) May as well give a status report: Aleph One SVN can read Marathon maps, and lets me run around in them. It doesn't understand glue/glue trigger/superglue. It doesn't know what devices map to which textures, and it gets all the scenery wrong. Monsters, weapons, and ammo are placed correctly, and the lighting is correctly inferred from the polygon floor/ceiling (Loren figured this out a long time ago). It can read Marathon's shapes file, and renders the scene--textures and sprites--from that. I don't intend to bother with the HUD shapes, just use Hopper's plugin. It can read the Marathon physics file, and lets me fire my AR. Projectiles work, the alien AI appears to work. Dual magnums and fusion are broken. The physics will be an approximation at best--using M2's physics code with Marathon's settings. I haven't touched the sounds files or terminals yet. Progress is slow. Real life is extremely time consuming. But, it's forward progress.
