Good gravy! You weren't kidding when you said it was "really long". That's the longest post I've ever seen and I'm still not finished reading it.
One quick observation concerning the following comment.
: In fact, the Volunteers entry on "Medicine" fails to notice that in

: facility. (Throughout Marathon 2 and Infinity there are set pieces,

This is used in Marathon as well. In particular, the use of dead civilians on The Rose. Unfortunately the dead civilian sprite was never implemented in M1A1 so you'll never see all the dead bodies lying around on The Rose, generating that sense of urgency and loss. Again a Greg Kirkpatrick level. Lack of time prevented their inclusion in the current iteration of M1A1. They are on a growing list of additions and changes for the next iteration (if necessary).
Anyway back to reading.
