: Actually, the Infinity scenario was created by Double Aught not Bungie.
: Bungie stopped doing first person shooters after Marathon 2 (end of 1995)
: and didn't start again until Halo.
: Greg Kirkpatrick, head of Double Aught and former Bungie employee, has spoken
: on the subject. However, like the Nar, who speak entirely in metaphor,
: Greg speaks entirely in questions and cackles a lot.
: You can read what he had to say about Infinity on the Story page under the
: facts and puzzling things about section (left frame near the bottom).
: Cheers

interesting, i must have skipped over that when i was scouring the page looking for things that have to do with this particular subject.
his answer is rather vague, but the questions he asks the reader about dreams and reality are interesting and seem to be making reference to that little storyline. perhaps it is the cyborg's (player) brain sorting through thoughts that regard to what has been happening to him? as someone mentioned, Durandal does roughly translate to durability and the girlfriend in there could very well be the female mentioned in the KYT terminal. it's unnerving to read sometimes, i usually leave out the hanger 96 parts and let the story flow on it's own. in a way, there is a dreamlikeness to it, especially when the character is in the movie theatre at one point and next thing you know he is talking about some "snot-nosed brat" on a school yard. it's all interesting to think about and to wonder how it all fits together in with the story.
