What's the quote? I can't remember... Something about hung for stealing a penny is the same as being hung for a pound? We just woke up here in the US. So I'm not afraid of zombie Merovingians. I've always, probably unjustly, dismissed them as short garlic eaters with BO. The fact that "the leadership among the early Merovingians was probably based on mythical descent and alleged divine patronage, expressed in terms of continued military success" makes them sound just like the Pfhor. "The Merovingians are extensively featured in the book The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail, in which they are claimed to be the descendants of Jesus, based on a hoax originating with Pierre Plantard in the mid-20th century." I read that book long before Dan Brown came on the scene. It was guaranteed to put me asleep in under three minutes. "The founder of the royal line Merovech was said to be of two fathers. His mother, already pregnant by King Chlodio, was seduced while swimming in the ocean by a "Quinotaur" (literally, "five horn") and Merovech was formed, somehow, by the commingling of Frankish blood and that of the mysterious aquatic creature." Eh yeah. Sounds like fanfic to me. So why the Hamish interest in the Murofingz? Perhaps this is the answer: Rosslyn Chapel was thrown into the mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau in the 1980s, by Baigent, Leigh and Lincoln. The connection was based on how the last grandmaster of the Priory of Sion, who claim to guard the secret of Rennes-le-Chateau, was named Pierre Plantard. But he added "de St Clair" to that name, and hence made the connections with the "Sinclairs", the modern spelling from the medieval "St Clair" of Rosslyn Chapel. Christ on a pogo stick. I should have realized it. Hamish is the Eternal Champion!
