: The M1A1 music does sound the same because the MIDIs were converted to MP3s
: with QT2.5 installed. However, the M1A1 music is only 128 kbps while the
: music I uploaded is in Apple Lossless. Thus better sound quality.
OK, I have to admit, now I'm thoroughly confused... I know the files that you put up on July 4th are QT 2.5, Apple Lossless format, but what version of QT was used to make the M1A1 soundtrack (is it 2.5?)? And what version of QT are we hearing on the Marathon Music Player http://marathon.bungie.org/story/music/index.html?
I just tried to listen to the tracks again in my personal library and what I now have labeled as QT 3.0 actually sounded correct to me, which makes me think that I either got used to the way those sound or I have something mislabeled. In any case, my test track for determining version correctness is always Aliens Again because the second note in the song changes pitch abruptly right when it starts if the version is wrong (post QT 2.5 or 3.0). I don't think this pitch change was in the original version I heard when I first played so I'm almost certain this is caused by the incorrect QT instrument/version. The change in pitch isn't heard in the version on the Marathon Music Player. I'm not even sure at this point if I know what QT 2.0 sounds like and I actually am questioning if I really know what the original music sounds like at all :)
