Couldn't someone use something like SheepShaver to play the MIDIs with 2.0 and have an audio recorder running on the host system? That'd be digital and only have the issue of extra silence before and after each track. The silence could be trimmed appropriately by comparing where the audio starts and stops in the 2.5 output.

I can try this out (what software would I use to just play the MIDI?), but it may be a few days before I get the chance.
