Just checked the Level Credits section on the Story Page, while I knew this was a Greg Kirkpatrick level I had forgotten that he had actually commented on this level. What he says is interesting. I quote:
"This map was made for Marathon but it never translated very well. In Marathon you could fly around with the flamethrower. Since that didn't work in Marathon 2 the map never really recovered."
Since this was originally a M1 level I am wondering if the annotations were simply ported over rather than added with the M2 map editor. Obviously the M2 editor still supported but they were just never used (for whatever reason) in M2.
