In Response To: Re: Eternally Perplexing Questions (Forrest of B.org) : Not really. A lot of them basically *are* starships, inasmuch as they have a
Okay, so they're energy beings - I can buy that. But what about the line about them being tied to powerful technologies? : The Junction did not exist at the time of the Sphere; that's why Hathor
So if the Sphere didn't have a CJ, how could Hathor get there? Doesn't she need something like a CJ to jump to? : Hathor left the dreadnaught and went back in time 65 million years to the
Oh, okay. Gotcha. : The Jjaro had a galaxy-spanning empire. The Sphere was their Ark - not all of
This would be a great little aspect of the story which could be fleshed out with some flavor terminals. : Did the version you played have a credits screen at the end or no? There was
There's a 1.0.3 release? What are the changes between that and 1.0.1? : The sphere got blown up in an alternate future - one you've now gone back in
What I understand is that the Sphere got blown up in the timeline we experienced; which is the ultimate cycle we're trying to break. But how did the other timeline with another Sphere with the Jjaro, us, and Hathor and the dream monsters come about? Urgh, there's nothing explicit which makes this clear? When we teleported off of Deep In The Grotto, did we jump to another timeline? Sigh. This is one of the aspects of Eternal which really gets at me. Sure, I had a problem with Infinity's plot just like everyone else, but when I read the Volunteers series on it, it all made sense, and when I played through the game and thought about it, I eventually got it. All of the jumps and plot elements had a purpose. But, here? - to be honest with you, stuff like this sounds like it was arbitrarily added to the plot. Now, if you're talking about the sphere lying dormant for 65 million years (between the point that us and Hathor arrive and when Leela sends her unlock code) while everyone's inside then that makes sense, but from what I hear, despite the fact that the Sphere is destroyed at the end of Where Giants Have Fallen, when we get to The Near Side of Everywhere, there's another Sphere, with another us, and another Hathor who seem to just pop into existence. : I would be interested in seeing such a thing. Email me about it. Between the smoldering ruins of my social life, the metaphorical trih xeem to my existence which is my thesis project, *and* my ambition to finish off Squadron Volunteers, I hope I'll have enough time (and I still do want to do Eternal Volunteers too). But yeah, I'll be sure to drop you a line soon. : Hmm... I just might take you up on that offer. Uh oh... ;)
