: do not take place in the same universe, there are obviously many
: connections. As it is now, they don't seem to, but I guess it's possible
: to explain anything away. I've always had trouble reconciling the
: technological differences between the two series.
By connections I specifically mean in-universe connections; not just things that we see connecting them out here in the real world, looking at symbols in the game etymologically (for lack of a better word).
And of course, tech differences and such can always be explained by alternate histories; since both of them purport to take place in futures of THIS real history, they must be explainable that way.
But the main point of my speculation isn't so much that Marathon and Halo may be connected per se, but that it seems very likely that Halo will feature some sort of time travel plot device, perhaps similar to Infinity (but of course, if so, it would have to be vastly simplified to be comprehensible to the average Joe Sixpack that plays Halo).
