Was all that promised somewhere? I don't recall hearing about it.

Although (A) MC did basically kick the crap out of High Charity single handedly, though granted it was in the middle of a civil war, and (B) the parts of Halo 2 where we would have found out what mankind did to fight off the Covenant were cut from the end and are now the beginning of Halo 3, so maybe we'll hear more about that later...
