: "...how sad I am to see [the MSF] appearing to die, whispering."
: If you've ever played the Myth series (or anything with a wheel-based
: metaphor, like the S'pht’s view of time...) the Marathon Story Forum goes
: in cycles of activity - light and dark. Since at least 2001, I can
: remember three different threads on three different years complaining
: hamish didn't post anymore or that posts were dwindling.
: It's true; many of the mysteries of the canon (Bungie-created) Marathon
: universe are recorded, and filed somewhere nearly on a shelf. What gives
: the community, and in turn the forum life isn't news posts by Hamish. It's
: us; what we create and discuss. It was all so 'old hat', I doubt anyone
: would be around to say so.
: Cheers,

There's truth in this. The fact of the matter is, there is very little left about the Marathon story that's actually left to be discussed... and the purpose of this forum has faded. The purpose of the Pfhorums was to be a slightly less... "directed" forum, and one more open to Marathon stuff in general, which is more what this forum is turning into. Although the Pfhorums hasn't turned out to be very good -- at all -- it's still the inevitable direction that this board must follow.
