I'd have to disagree with this. If you look at the Marathon story - the one created by Bungie, not added to by fans - it's no 'deeper' (what does that word really mean, in this context, anyway?) than the Halo story.
This, coming from someone who used to be about as entrenched in the Marathon community as anyone COULD be.
