: I'm Michael M, and I'm a Bungieholic. : ~_^ -- Michael M, HBO resident My first Bungie game was Myth II. It was extremely fun and addicting, and I loved doing the level where you assault the Baron's Stronghold over and over. Following that was Gnop!, and now Marathon. So far, Marathon is the only FPS I truly enjoy aside from Wolfenstein 3D. I've played Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, Quake III, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Medal of Honor and so on, and they were fun for a while, but only these two FPS games have managed to appeal to me. On Marathon: Marathon maintains a healthy dose of suspense, tranquilizing feel, intriguing plot, unique expression of plot (computer terminals), puzzles and of course the action. So far I'm loving the intrigue and twists in the plot, along with the strange and confusing yet interesting terminal messages that I've never seen in any other game, and probably never will. I suspect that the storyline will grow deeper, and that there is an amazing 'big picture' behind the whole concept. I become ever more interested as I progress further in the game. The feel is also very tranquilizing: The background music, the high-tech look and feel mixed in with a sense of hopelessness in the situation. Puzzles are also fun.Action is okay, but it sort of adopts the same way of action as most other FPS games I've encountered. But it's still a little fun and adds some visual to paramount of this game's intrigue and bigger pleasure. On Wolfenstein: Though Wolfenstein was a simple FPS game where the game is simply about shooting, collecting and escaping, but it was still very compelling in my opinion. I actually liked how the environmental concept was consistent of walls, ceilings, floors, doors and the things to fill the rooms. Sometimes I think that concept works the best. The environment, in a way, was actually relaxing and appealing to me, and the music was excellent. The action and how you were to survive through the battles was not of how well you could dodge or of the usual tactics and techniques that are required in other games such as Duke Nukem, but the tactics and techniques required to get your way trhough battle in Wolfenstein 3D were unique from the rest: They were all about where you stood, whether or not your held weapon was adequate enough for the weight of resistance you encountered, and so on. The simple though fun, addicting and unique gaming concept of Wolfenstein 3D will probably never be seen again. I personally think it's the best work id software has ever done, and one of the best games ever. I love and enjoy both Wolfenstein and Marathon equally. Both are equally great in their own ways with their own attributes. After having played through the early part in the game and becoming very interested, I decided to search and see if there were any possible active Marathon forums. I found this. The forum seemed active, and from what I've heard the game is rather old and I've never heard of the game until sometime ago, so chances are it isn't popular, and when in the midst of both of those things and a Marathon forum is active, plus the forum's title "Marathon's Story", giving off that the game could possibly have an intriguing plot, it seemed surprising. So I joined. And lucky for me I don't have to register or any of such to post here.
