: how about this one - the sleeping god misses earth entirely, 65 million years
: before pathways even starts, and hits the pfhor homeworld instead. the
: jjaro aren't as sympathetic towards them, leading to their destruction and
: a lack of human first contact until we run into the covenant. or does that
: not count as happening during pathways?
Very good point.
Since the Pfhor will live, they'll enslave many races in thier time. It's not explained, but maybe they actualy enslaved the Covenant, and they're possibly the Hunters or something, seeing as how they're the only Pfhor with actual metal armour.
Now, since they're able to go to different timelines, the meteor missing the Earth 65 million years ago may be fully possible. And besides, I have a powerful clue as to who the god is, as explained in the second terminal on Aye Mak Sicur.
"~old
~imes
my old Pthia, lost, vacant, doubt
chaos, overpowering, underwhelming
two forces in balance
ancient endless balance
then nothing"
And another possibility. The player is able to change timelines. The Nova blast at the end of Infinity may have been so catastrophic that when the player tried to switch timelines at that moment, the power of the Nova blast may've altered his route so much, it came to one where he's spatialy and temporaly out of place. He's in the 25th century, and the Pfhor don't exist.
