As to the double prongs:
Seeing as how they featured on Aye Mak Sicur, I always thought they were used to focus forces, gravitational in the A.M.S. case and I suppose electromagnetic (maybe even gravitational) in Acme Station's case.

I have no idea about anything else, as I've never studied the level.

BTW, although Acme Station obviously is not a vacuum, I remember a missing window somewheres...rather like one of the Pfhor ship levels...
