In Response To: Re: When did you first play a Marathon game? (durandalman1824) : I first played a marathon game when I was 7. now i'm 11 and I make weird
This thread is so damn depressing. Why? I started playing Marathon when I was 33! ("I was 5 and learned to play on my father's lap..." geez!) 42 now & still playing. I had a shiny new Quadra 630 that I bought cheap on the gray market because the OS was installed in Spanish and the guy couldn't get anyone else to buy it. A friend told me about it, and was so into it he went so far as to send me his floppies. Literally took me a week to get through Arrival. Turns out I had the brightness set too low on my monitor so I couldn't see a blessed thing. My friend gets stuck on The Rose and finally gives the game up after days of not finding the secret door. I get stuck on G4 (general ineptitude) and am about to give up myself when I make a discovery that changes the entire experience: I turn on the music. Whoa! This became the game for me. To this day I still play the music on my MP3 player while working out. Biggest mistake Bungie ever made (including M$) was trading ambients for music. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
