I first picked up a copy of Marathon 1 when it was fresh in 1995, I was nine years old and just received my first computer for my birthday. It was an astoundingly high-tech Macintosh PowerPC 6100. I wasn't very good at first, but a little practice got me hooked like with Doom and Wolfenstein. I enjoyed that game thoroughly, and got Marathon 2: Durandal next year, which I enjoyed even more. By the time I played Infinity, I was beginning to appreciate that there was a story to the game. Unlike most young kids, I was addicted to RPGs since I played Final Fantasy 1 on the NES, so the story was a welcome addition to the bloodshed.
Fast forward to Halo time.
I had completely forgotten about the Marathon world, and never even thought to look for Marathon devotees like on this website when Halo was released. Obviously I noticed the connection, my interest was sparked from the first time I saw the logo, and noticed Bungie was making it.
Fast forward to Halo 2 time.
Now it's 2004 and as I type this I'm gearing up to visit one of the axons in the ILB ARG, mine is in San Diego, one of the last. o.o I know it's all media hype, but my god I would be so ecstatic if Bungie officials were there to wave and tell us something cool about Halo 2
