: Isn't there some way that you can use more than one media in a level, like
: with Chisel or something? If I could stick to the Marathon textures and
: put lava in there, that would totally rock. I'd ignore the "but it's
: in engineering!' BS to have the old gameplay back.

I'm wracking my brain right now to think if I've ever seen this in any scenario and so far have come up blank. If anyone would know, it would be Chris Lund, so you might want to contact him. Otherwise, the obvious solution is to either expand the lava texture set to include some key Marathon textures, or to add a second lava texture set. I know that neither of these is appealing, but I think that the addition of lava to this level would be well worth the effort. And why not have lava here? Wouldn't it make sense to pump lava from deep within the Marathon up to Engineering to use as a heat source?

: Hmm, that's not right. The whole central pillar, consisting of 9 platforms,
: is supposed to raise and lower in unison continuously, contracting slower,
: just like the one on Core Done Blew. Does the one on CDB act like the one
: here too?

No, the one in Core Done Blew works as you intended. If you make this one work the way it should, however, the level will become unplayable on TC - the troopers and fighters will blow the marine right off the pillar as soon as they step onto it. An immobile central pillar is the only way for the player to shied themselves. Just something to think about.
