It was 1996 and I was 9 years old and I noticed a small picture (screenshot) from Marathon Infinity in a magazine with a destription next to it. I fel in love with the screenshot right away and I just needed to get that game. So my first Marathon game was actually the last in the trilogy. However, as a 9 year old I couldn't get past the first level in Marathon Infinity so I started toying around in Forge and Anvil.

Months later after creating loads of crappy maps and physics models I noticed that Marathon Infinity was actually the 3rd Marathon game so I decided to buy the trilogy set in 1997. I noticed the Aleph One project late in 2002, however I never really stopped playing the Marathon games between 1997 and 2002. To be honest I never really played Marathon 1 much until M1A1 came out.
