In Response To: Re: When did you first play a Marathon game? (Yossarian) : It's raining again. I misunderstood the question. I first got Marathon back in late 1995 when I was 13 and my dad bought a CD-ROM drive from MacWarehouse for Christmas. Marathon was one of the free games to come with the drive, and all it was was a CD sleeve, the CD, and folded card stock with the two serial numbers. Since we had a 33mhz 030 8mb RAM OS7.1 machine, I had to run everything low res; but I still remember playing it for the first time as it was the best game I had ever played up to that point, being on Arrival for the first time and being slapped silly by all the fighters in the first room with a PB. I played the game for about 16 hours the first day and dreamt about it all night. The next year I received M2 also from MacWarehouse when we bought Norton Utilities. Since we still had the same machine I had to play it in low-res and with every-other line drawn, but it was still a blast. I never obtained a copy of Infinity by itself but I got it from the Trilogy and the Mac Action Sack... ...good times. |
