In Response To: Re: When did you first play a Marathon game? (Siphonopho) Around 1996-97 i think my brother bought a 5200 Powermac, for the first days we only played the games that came with it. like Myst and many more. I think one week later our uncle burned a copy of Marathon 2 for my bro and both of us got stuck to it instantly. The first level, Waterloo.. it was so awesome. I was strucked by the graphics, it was so awesome. (In 96-97 real 3d games were still evolving and they most often looked like crap so the old 2d (well, marathon is 2d ya know) games looked great cause that technology was so much more evolved than the 3d technology. Well the lightning and the textures were so great. I loved that game. The moment i played through Waterloo, it's just something i can't forget. Me and my bro played through Marathon 2 together, helping each other out. (well he was 14 and i was around 7 so i doubt i knew what was going on in each level.. hehe) We were both marathon addicts for a long time, he tried mapping but never got into it because he just couldn't figure out how. I trained myself for a long time and that probably saved me from giving up on Marathon but my bro moved on and stopped playing it. |
