Corvette: Small, fast, used for scouting/patrolling/escorting; most often found in intra-system operations.
Destroyer: Somewhat larger than a corvette but also fast and maneuverable, generally built for long-range ops.
Battleship: Large, heavy, realitively slow vessel built for long-range bombardment.
Assault Carrier: Smaller and faster than a regular carrier; designed for quick in-and-out deployments of troops, fighters, bombers etc.
