Yeah, that's pretty much what happened the last time I sent someone my resume.

What is more likely to happen is what happens whenever I apply for a game in the industry: nothing. I haven't received a reply, not even a rejection letter, not even a "yeah, we received your stuff and it's on the pile with the other 9000 applications" email in about ten attempts. Which is a little annoying, because it leaves me with no idea what I need to work on to improve my chances. Outside of the game industry I've never applied for a job and not gotten an offer, within the industry I can't even get insulted.

I do plan on cooking something up though... I imagine working this this crew (or this imagined crew) would be educational at any rate, and odds are the game won't be just another licensed movie tie-in.

The problem with my portfolio right now (one of many problems I guess) is that it's all polished, finished work, and all based on others' characters. Not a lot of originality on display (well, originality in re-imagining the characters I guess), which I would think is the hallmark of the concept artist.

I'm encouraged and intrigued by their "build-a-team" approach though... it seems like a very rational way to approach something like building a game. And I might be able to position myself for some contract work. That way I don't have to quit my swank day gig ;)

not as bitter as I sound... honest!
