I totally agree with you, Mark.

IMHO, the marathon logo is the representation of an astrolabe - which makes sense, since the astrolabe was some sort of early computer used for astronomical calculations.

The "world within a world" explanation sounds nice, but I don't buy it. And I repeat, IMHO.
