Maybe I'm missing something here, but Ian says that we can either stay here and go down with the ship, or "finish what we started with Joshua"...Ian doesn't seem to be giving us a second chance, and sounds like he's pretty much resigned to what's become of us. So I'm guessing that the next level (and the ones afterward?) is us feeling all remorseful, trying to change our past, the way the Marathon Marine did in Infinity.
