I already thought of that, and that is exactly the solution I am trying to avoid. Let me elaborate. I have put together a map collection which includes all the M2 and Infinity Netmaps, the CoriolisLoop maps, and many others... all totalling about 90 or so. I am setting up these maps to be playable as an offline bot match... i.e. the Bobs have the 2xMagnun shapes patch applied to make them look like marines, and I have a modified physics file which gives them the ability to shoot dual pistols, assault rifle, shotgun and SPNKR. Now, I have the physics for the bobs tweaked to the point where the gameplay is very fun. HOWEVER, starting out at 1x health just does not give the player enough of a fighting chance, it is over too quickly... when I boost myself to 3x shields with the Aleph cheats, then the gameplay sustains itself much better. Given that a player may spawn in multiple places when a net map starts up, and I don't want to modify the map to add all those canisters for every map (not to mention that they will still be there when regular netplay is enabled, which I do not want, as this merged map will be used to LAN play as well), then that is why I was trying to find a way to enable the extra health with the physics file. So that the player would start with 3x health ONLY when playing the maps in solo mode. If adding the canisters next to spawn points is the only way... then I will have to create two versions of the map collection, one for netplay and one for solo play. That still leaves me with finding every single spawn point and adding a cannister next to it... which I CERTAINLY don't want to do. :-) Or only having one spawn point for the player per map... which means I still have to go through and delete any other spawn points. These are the kind of tedious repetitive modifications I want to avoid... hance my "lets see if we can do it in the physics file" need. |
