Do ticks lay eggs? You could probably gather them each morning like chicken eggs and make greasy scrambled eggs for mess call, lord knows I had my share of that. This could be a reason unmentioned by the game for not bothering to eradicate them. At least a reason in a new scenario for not having had eradicated them.
