Holy cow, I've re-read this post not twain but thrice and noticed that in no way was it mentioned that this guy should trash his preference file.

That's like operating without an anesthetic, man, like, a strawberry milkshake without a straw. This is like opting for surgery when we haven't even given the man a decent trash-the-prefs-and-call-us-in-the-morning.

But yeah, those suggestions look like they could work too.
