: That's something I noticed right away. It's not a big movie, just a subtle
: effect of Evil coming into focus, but the effect definitely sets the mood
: for the scenario.
Unfortunately for me, either I managed to completely miss the opening movie, or Aleph One doesn't support it.
: I played Evil first, too, as I suspect most of us here did. Evil received a
: lot of hype - it got everyone's attention.
A dissenting opinion here: I believe I played Siege first as part of a general interest in Marathon 2 maps, and certainly the memories that returned as I played through it seemed more vivid than those of Evil. (Although I do seem to recall going to the house of a friend of my brother to start playing the new large scenario on his Power Computing clone, which by far outperformed my Performa 5200.)
: It's a modified Pfhor texture set - the door style is new and there are some
: other subtle differences. The question to me is why the UESC would use a
: Pfhor design for their own ships. The realtiy is that creating a new
: texture design would have meant a lot of work for something that would
: only be used on one level, but that's the difference between a good and a
: great scenario.
Actually, this level seemed quite large for one intended simply to tell you things are going wrong. As was said, there are interesting things to see along the way, such as the rising-pillar lifts, which are a bit more distinctive than ordinary elevators.
