Eat the Path terminal speculation -- Part 2

Allow me to speculate in a very abstract manner about the second page of Eat The Path's first terminal. Perhaps the effort will help me feel less hypertensive.
First, as always, the complete text:
Existence is simple: find the food, push the button, hit the treadmill.
But sometimes it gets much harder. Sometimes the food makes you sick, or you can hear nearby feet racing you, urging you on. Sometimes the button only gets you landed right back in the beginning of the maze again, and the food won't satisfy.
Now, to break it down into components.
Existence is simple: find the food, push the button, hit the treadmill.
Hmm. Using our previous metaphors, Find the food (the solution), push the button (to try to solution)... hit the treadmill. A treadmill, if I'm not misinformed, is a mechanical device that allows one to perform the action of moving while remaining, geographically, still.
The treadmill is the loop.
But sometimes it gets much harder. Sometimes the food makes you sick, or you can hear nearby feet racing you, urging you on. Sometimes the button only gets you landed right back in the beginning of the maze again, and the food won't satisfy.
And here we are, talking about starting back again...
Sometimes it does get much harder... maybe you find yourself working for the closest thing to a nemesis you've had. Maybe you end up fighting the people you fought so hard to protect. Certainly, the 'food' of killing your own friends before they could cause a problem would make me feel ill.
... And maybe enacting the solution itself goes wrong, and you have to go back again, right back to the start where the maze became a maze, because the solution you'd worked out isn't satisfactory.
Hmm, much shorter this time, but isn't this where...
