: Since the decision has been made already to not reproduce engine bugs, then
: this should be (remain) fixed, at least for the TC weapon pick up bug, and
: I say bug as it has been show to me to have come out of Jason Jones' mouth
: that it was a bug. Of course, if the decision changes to the goal of fully
: replicating the Marathon experience, warts and all, then the bug should be
: faithfully reproduced along with other unpleasantries such as sliding off
: the moving platform in BobBQ .

In 1982, I sat in awe at a movie that has had more influence on me than any other movie to date. That movie was Blade Runner. From the opening scene of the futuristic Los Angeles skyline, complete with fireballs, and the haunting Vangelis score, I was hooked. I actually sat in the movie theatre and watched it twice.

Over time the more I read about the movie the more I came to understand that it contained glaring inconsistencies, critical scenes had been removed, a jarringly out of place happy ending had been added and a gratuitously explanatory voice-over had been included. The movie was flawed, but I still loved it.

In 1992, the Director's Cut was released. This removed the explanatory voice-over and the studio imposed happy ending, it also inserted some deleted scenes. While the movie looked better and exposed a whole new generation to its magic, the inconsistencies were still there. They were even more noticeable now, with ten years of watching.

In 2007, the Final Cut was released. This fixed all those annoying little inconsistencies and made this the definitive version of Blade Runner for me.

I love Blade Runner but I only watch the Final Cut.

I like to think of Marathon the same way.

I would like to think that we can fix all the problems, like terminal messages not displaying, unnecessarily slippy platforms, illogical multiple weapon pickups, and the annoying inability to pick up a second weapon when your current weapon is empty.

I love Marathon and I want to play the... Final Cut.

Cheers
Hamish
