I've been going pretty smoothly through Eternal X, but I'm stuck on "Deep into the Grotto". I got into the "core" and found a water forcefield, barring my way towards the (presumably) end terminal. Now, I've searched all around the level, and I've pressed every switch in all the side rooms (that you flood), and every other switch that I can find (like the two on the side hallways above the lake in the core). I've also explored everywhere, even places that aren't supposed to be accessible (by grenade-jumping). I found a diagonal hallway in this way leading to a locked door, but I don't think it is supposed to ever open. Anyway, the forcefield still isn't open. I can't figure out what I've done wrong. It doesn't help that some of the switches are reactivating, and there's no way to tell what most of them do. I've read a post by Doomguy talking about his difficulty with this annoying level, but it didn't help me (since a definite answer was never posted). So, this is what I ask:
Do only the switches in the southern room (with 4 switches) control the forcefield? Is there some kind of special combination, becuase I can't figure it out if there is (and believe me I've tried every way I could think of). Or do the switches in other parts of the level control it too in some kind of complicated way (I hope not)? Can someone give me a detailed description of what switches control what doors/the forcefield? Thanks...
