In Response To: Re: Aleph One issue - latest build (C Lund)

: Well, I turned off OGL and then it was smooth again (albeit seriously fugly).
: Even stranger: When I turned OGL back on, it was still smooth (other than
: the occasional jerk). Odd.

Could be some other program was using CPU or a lot of memory...

: Hm.. Well.. I'll complain again if the problem reappears. B)

If you're exceeding Forge's limits, which is what the engine is optimized for, I'm not sure what can be done if it does reappear.

: Hah. I'm *way* past any of Forge's limits. This level would kill puny Forge
: if I look in the wrong direction while in visual mode - and probably
: Classic Mode as well.. ;)

Hmm, Aleph One (probably) won't crash if you exceed those limits like Marathon used to, but that it gracefully handled such abuse in the past could just be due to luck on your part. It wouldn't surprise me to see unpredictable slowdowns depending on the configuration of the system it's running on.
