Yes, it is a known issue. "Is being investigated" is too optimistic a way to put it, for my tastes. Unless someone is working on a massive patch in secret, it's unlikely to be fixed any time soon.

You could alternate between Lua-script levels, and levels with pattern buffers. Not a great workaround, but better than nothing.
