I've decided tonight that Mk IV will be the last version of Eternal. Until the next life, at least.
Pretty much everyone has left the project, except for one, maybe two people who have very little time to contribute anyway. I myself am losing enthusiasm for it, working so much to see such mediocre results come out of it. I don't know why, but Mk I seemed so good to me, and everything since has just gone downhill. That seems to be the public consensus as well, or at least, it correlates to the attention the project is getting. I think two people have played Mk III, at least, people who I've heard have played Mk III.
So anyway... I've only got three levels (one of which is almost done), a monster to port, and a weapon to fix up in time for Mark IV, which is due out Nov 7th. Mark V needs ten levels, a chapter screen, and at *least* one new monster, though one or two more would be better to more thoroughly tell the story right. No way in hell can I get that done myself in five weeks after Mark IV, in time for the final release date - Dec 21, Marathon's 10th anniversary.
I'm not declaring the project officially dead until that date, on the off chance that somebody might be able to help me make it. I'll keep working at whatever rate I can, but don't expect to ever see the end of this project.
