In Response To: PF Volunteers - Scorched Cauldron (Steve Levinson)

: Be sure to save your game before leaving Egos, as it's a long, long time
: until you'll see a pattern buffer again. In fact, this is the only thing
: that makes Cauldron difficult - you won't be able to gain access to a PB
: until you've basically eliminated any threat of danger. Matt, you might
: want to consider redistributing some monsters to later in the level to
: give it more balance.

Whoa Steve!!! 2:42 AM?!?!?!? I was in Marathon lala-land by the time you posted this! As for this level, I agree. Ordinarily, it would bother me to have to wait so long for the PB. However, I didn't think this level was all that difficult, so waiting for me was not a big deal. It does get somewhat tedious having to go up and down that elevator. The coolness of it though makes each trip a bit easier to take. :)

: Immediately
: there will be a couple of troopers coming after you, and some troopers
: from above will likely drop down as well. Circle clockwise and they're
: pretty easy to take out.

If you stay back, away from the Troopers on the walkway, they will generally suicide themselves or berserk.

Speaking of Troopers, Matt did you mess around with the Physics of the Troopers? I swear it's easier to fist one of these than in M1. Seems to me in M1, even if you do circle them clockwise, they will usually get a few shots in anyway. These Troopers do not. You can almost be careless with them and still not take damage.

: To gain access to
: the upper level, you need to shoot a switch in the northernmost section of
: the upper level, that is visible from below.

Just wanted you to know that I did have to shoot this one. :)

: but we can
: reach it directly once we're up there, so why waste the ammo now?

Am I beginning to corrupt you with this "no ammo" attitude of mine?

One minor thing - if you go down the leftmost long narrow hallway near the elevator, almost to the doorway that opens up later, the wall on the right side of this hallway is VERY bouncy.
