"A1" in question was the most recent classic build. "Older Version of A1" was, iirc, 2/03. I have a slightly aged 9.1 mac.

I appreciate the advice, and in the past I have actually managed to get A1 working - after going through experiences almost as bad. But I was just venting off steam because this latest attempt was just such a ridiculous experience that I probably won't try again, unless maybe when I get a better computer and try the newer build.
