In Response To: Re: Bottom of the shaft (AB10784) Finn and Shovelface of 7HR33 got down to the bottom of the Shaft on the Silent Cartographer on Wednesday the 19th of December. Well, here is how one does it. Unless depending on blind luck, I think it is only possible to do on Co-op. First drive the jeep downstairs and right out onto the platform overlooking the Shaft. Turn it around and launch it off, landing it on one of the lower floors. From this lower level slowly drive it off so it tips and lands on the bottom -most accessible floor (the level with the Cartographer). It was quite extraordinary when we did this as the jeep started to tip off the edge while upside-down from the fall. Shovelface quickly stepped to the very edge and flipped the jeep over back onto the ledge but he then started to fall. Only by pressing X madly did he manage to save himself by climbing into the Jeep. Get the jeep backed up along the right side the Covenant box-things pointing staight out to the abyss. Now, hit the Cartographer. This checkpoints it, allowing you to try a few times with great convenience. The driver needs to grab the "Uber-shield". The other needs the rocket launcher. The jeep needs to be backed up no farther than beside the boxes, otherwise when combined with the forward velocity provided by the rocket blast you will travel to the other side too quickly, not landing close enough to the bottom. The driver drives off, the other player hits the ground behind the jeep after the front end has already begun to tip off. Hopefully the driver will still have full red shield as the jeep flips madly, landing on the very lowest of the strange rib like structures jutting out from the other side. The non-driver may then kill him or herself in whatever way he\she sees fit, reappearing with their comrade below. When we did this the jeep landed right against the wall on the lowest rib. This made it very easy to flat spin the jeep off, through the small square opening below and into a rectangular trough with a drop on either side to the very, very bottom. After attempting to jump to a halfway point from this spot and dying many times we dared to drive the jeep off to this ledge halfway down the last leg, knowing that if the driver died the other would at least be able to jump onto the jeep to cushion his fall. Unfortunately I missed the edge and the jeep tumbled to the very bottom, about twice as far as we could survive. As a last ditch effort, thinking it know impossible, I jumped onto the jeep and died but I noticed I had the option to flip it moments before. I tried jumping again and managed to flip it just before dying and the next time successfully landed in the drivers seat, losing only 3/4 of my shield. That's that. The rest is on video. Daniel |
