The next Arena season makes a very important fix :The Season is extended to 3 months. 1 month was too fast for season turnover even for me. 3 months sounds like it should be long enough but not so long that it has the negative effects of Halo 2's rank resets. But as it was, Trueskill wasn't a good comparison, even for me. In fact, in 3 I trusted their Playlist EXP to tell me more about them than their 1-50 rank. We were a team of 38-42s and we'd regularly 3-0 whole teams of 50 3-to-5 star Generals in CTF or beat them handily in Slayer. But if I ran into someone with tons of legitimate playlist EXP in addition to that, they usually beat me. The difference is that while Trueskill showed they were good (or good at boosting), their playlist EXP was a better show of how consistently good they were and their knowledge of the playlist. In the same way, the daily rating does the same job but gives me more information. If someone has a high daily rating, I'm probably going to lose to them, because they had to be consistently good and not lucky to get that rank. And I know they're consistently good NOW and not 8 months ago. I pretty much assumed 50s were boosters (or Lone Wolf language changers) first in 3, and most of the time they were. Considering that I did a pretty good job of pulling 50s every time I was invited into the BTB nights and beating them. The rank was worthless as an indicator of that player's skill in a timescale that was useful for me, and the endless sell spam from recent players made me avoid playing ranked playlists that I liked. I have yet to ever get a account selling offer in Reach. Using Trueskill as a visible rank is too brutally true and unemotional for most people to handle and is too tempting to boost high.
