In Response To: Why We Should Never Go Back to 1-50.. or (FyreWulff) Your a cool guy Fyrewulff, and I have a ton of mutual respect for you, that said when it comes to competitive Halo im sure you know my opinion differs from yours. :P I hate to break the mood, so I wont post too much about the actual rank system (I do disagree with what you said about the Arena blowing 1-50 out of the water). There are many reasons why The Arena could be underpopulated, personally I don't think Reach's game mechanics stand up to competitive play but other reasons which go directly against what you posted such as the fact it requires too much commitment and is a system that doesn't make too much sense are all reasons I have come across. Bungie have been making changes to the Arena to accommodate for this, and are even overhauling the system on Monday for these reasons. I like the CR system, its fair that people who are interested in Firefight and Campaign can rank up and its awesome that everyone gets to reap the rewards of playing the game, but the CoD implementation is so much better. EXP earning in that game makes a lot more sense than the CR system in Reach which seems to spit out random amounts, as much as I think everyone should get CR win or lose - the guys who get more kills or even win deserve a decent bonus, as it stands the bonus is so minimal that people who AFK get around as much. Which brings me to my other point... the CR system has opened the floodgates to AFK'ers, goodbye black market, hello freeloaders. Also introduce me to anyone that afk'ed and got carried to a 50 on Halo 3 and I will literally hand over all my goods to him. :P
