I hate "were it so easy." It's an idiomatic phrase that is appropriate if and only if someone makes a statement about something being easily accomplished, which is exactly the opposite of what Hood is saying. It's is used incorrectly throughout Halo 3, and ruins every scene in which it's spoken. HATE IT.
