In Response To: Re: Old halo games remake by 343 industries? (ArteenEsben) : If 343 ever does this, I hope they don't let 'canon' get in the way of the : gameplay or the story. And I also hope that they put in the effort to make : it feel like its own game, rather than a Reach expansion pack. If it's : just Halo:CE HD with copy-paste Reach content, it doesn't excite me much. : I'd much rather have a remake of Halo 2 anyway. What? What's the point in remaking a game if you're not going to be faithful to it? Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against crazy new gameplay ideas or all-new epic storylines, but surely they might as well just make an all-new game for that sort of thing? The way I see it, trying to inject lots of new stuff into an old game is a terrible idea. It will only result in a mediocre compromise. All the little things that made the original game good will have been overwritten by the new things, but the new things will have been limited and stunted by the limitations of what is expected of a remake of an old game. The new content will not have the proper setting in which to flourish and grow and be fully-developed. That to me sounds like a terrible compromise. If you're going to do a remake, I think it should be done faithfully. If you want to make new content, why limit yourself to the confines of an older game? You'd tarnish the original game and pointlessly restrict yourself. The only exception I'd consider is filling in "blanks" in the games. ie. an all-new epilogue chapter for Halo 2 which takes place on the Forerunner Ship or something like that.
