In Response To: Brutes > Elites (Riceatron) Yeah, well said. Good on ya for sticking up for the much loathed Brutes. I honestly like em both. But I definitely miss fighting Elites. I guess thats where the hatred comes from. I agree that Halo 2 actually had it down. Elites were still there and were fun to fight and watch (not quite as well done as Halo CE, but still good). And the Brutes were a very different enemy. I don't know why Bungie felt like they did such a bad job with Brutes in H2. You couldn't fight them the same way you fought any other enemy, so they added a good dimension. In Halo 3, they were exactly like Elites. They weren't scary and they weren't tough. I liked how in H2 you couldn't run up and go mano a mano with Brutes. They were stronger than you and when they berserked you either had to remain calm and nail the headshot or run for your life. A berserking Brute in H3 is a joke. Even in ODST, its just silly and sad. So yeah, all hail Tartarus. But if they do stick Brutes in Reach, I hope they do them more like H2. They should re-watch that vidoc "Et Tu Brute" and realize they still haven't gotten it down yet. P.S. Speaking of that vidoc, I'm still bummed we haven't seen those partially rendered animations brought to life yet. The Brute smashing the Marine into the bus and flipping the wart hog were totally awesome. It felt like something only they could do, and I hope to see that type of Brute in the future.
