In Response To: Re: Gender and War discussion, possibly? (SonofMacPhisto) : Take the Arbiter for example - I think his presence in Halo 2 was a direct : statement about how we think and treat our enemies. Some people (like : Slate.com) saw it as a slap in the face to the 'War on Terrorism' our : country is currently trying to fight. Perhaps. I don't think Bungie intended it as anything more than to give the game more depth by enhancing our knowledge of its universe, rather than making any kind of statement. Now, one of the great results of having made a game with such depth is that it becomes possible to read a lot into it, and make parallels with reality, because it's so comprehensive it is its own reality. But I don't think that was in and of itself the intent.
